Industrial Engine Services
Our Engine Services Unit is home to Abu Dhabi’s first, dedicated facility for maintenance, repair and overhaul of industrial gas turbines, commonly used in the oil and gas sectors.

Established in 1998, the shop started by performing minor repairs on Rolls-Royce Avon engines. Today, it has grown into a full-service, 15,000ft2 modern facility, with four engine overhaul bays and two hydraulic engine lifts. The centre supports a wide range of powerplant products for the oil and gas industries, as well as the power generation industry.

Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies’ industrial propulsion services shop has grown significantly, forcing us to construct a new, state-of-the-art facility to accommodate our growing business. The new facility, on the western part of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies’ premises, is due to open in December 2007.

Rolls-Royce Avon:

Our Industrial propulsion services shop now controls more than 80% of the UAE Avon market, and is a dominant player in 5 other countries in the region. We are able to offer the following services on this type:

  • Full engine overhaul
  • Field service & commissioning
  • Borescope inspections
  • Component inspections
  • Preventative maintenance program
  • Technical Training
  • Lease engine support
  • Spare parts (through the OEM)

Rolls-Royce Industrial Trent:

Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies started building capabilities on the Industrial Trent when Dolphin Energy, another Mubadala subsidiary, ordered 6 of the type for its Qatar-Abu Dhabi gas pipeline project.

Today, we in final discussions with Rolls-Royce to form a joint-venture to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul for Industrial Trent engines in the region.

General Electric Frame

Today, our Frame capabilities are focused heavily on component repairs for the -5, -6, -7 and -9 engines, through our joint-venture with General Electric, Gulf Turbine Systems (GTS). We are able to provide inspection, repair, modifications and upgrades for the following equipment:

  • Compressor and Turbine Rotor up to Frame MS9001E
  • Buckets and associated hardware
  • Combustion Hardware
  • Power Nozzles
  • DLN 2.0 and Standard Type Fuel Nozzles
  • Robotic Thermal Spray Coatings
  • Flow Dividers
  • Accessory Equipment

The GTS service shop is located in Mussafah, (Industrial City of Abu Dhabi), with a working area of 2880m2 lifting capability of 40 metric tonne.
